It seems too much value is placed on the effectiveness of sunblock. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ewg.org\/sunscreen\/report\/skin-cancer-on-the-rise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Environmental Working Group<\/a> (EWG), points out, \u201cSunscreen products are not as good as they should be. Physicians and researchers feel it is unethical to ask people to sit in the sun unprotected for hours while they record data, potentially placing them at risk.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">\n<p>Despite the lack of information, doctors urge the public to continue using sunscreens until more substantial data emerges. Information that is currently used is based on questionnaires from skin cancer sufferers.<\/p>\n<p>The EWG recommends sunscreen as a last resort. Other ways to keep skin protected include:<\/p>\n<p>Covering up with clothes and a hat<\/p>\n<p>Plan activities around the sun \u2013 early morning or evening<\/p>\n<p>Find or make shade<\/p>\n<p>Sunglasses are essential<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSkin cancers are generally a result of overexposure to UV rays\u201d reminds Buck, Vice President of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatflorida.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">GreatFlorida Insurance<\/a>, Florida\u2019s largest independent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatflorida.com\/florida-healthcare-insurance\" target=\"_blank\">health insurance<\/a> agency reminds,<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/cancer\/skin-cancer\/prevention-and-early-detection\/uv-protection.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The American Cancer Society<\/a>, skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. More skin cancers are diagnosed in the U.S. each year than all other cancers combined. In fact, the number of skin cancer cases has been going up over the past few decades.<\/p>\n<p>While sunscreens might not be the cure we were hoping for, it is necessary to protect your skin from the powerful Florida sun.
