Although, you can legally purchase fireworks if you sign a waiver. The waiver states that you will be using the fireworks to scare away birds from agricultural products or fish hatcheries, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridatoday.com\/videos\/news\/2018\/06\/26\/4th-july-fireworks-florida-what-legal-and-what-not\/36405071\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Florida Today<\/a>. Lying on the form is a first-degree misdemeanor.<\/p>\n<p>Illegally using fireworks is also a first-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. However, sparklers, snakes and party poppers are legal. Keep in mind, there is still a risk of injury using sparklers. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpsc.gov\/Newsroom\/News-Releases\/2018\/CPSC-Reminds-Consumers-to-Celebrate-Safely-This-Fourth-of-July-Season\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)<\/a> reports 8 deaths were caused by fireworks in 2017 along with 12,900 emergency-room related injuries. Sparklers were the number one cause of injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swfd.org\/about-swfd\/fire-life-safety\/firework-safety\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">South Walton Fire District<\/a> recommends the following guidelines to light it up safely:<\/p>\n<p>Keep a bucket of water close by or a garden hose.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t light anything on dry grass, look for a flat surface.<\/p>\n<p>Never try to re-light a \u201cdud\u201d and light one item at a time.<\/p>\n<p>Do not use unwrapped items or items that may have been tampered with.<\/p>\n<p>Only purchase fireworks from a licensed vendor.<\/p>\n<p>Light up in an open area.<\/p>\n<p>Never allow young children to play or light fireworks.<\/p>\n<p>Keep any part of your body from being directly over a fireworks device when lighting the fuse.<\/p>\n<p>Never carry sparklers in your pocket or shoot them off in metal or glass containers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DRIVING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More people are killed in car accidents on Independence Day than any other day of the year. \u201cThe staggering amount of traffic contributes to that grim statistic, reminds Buck with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatflorida.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GreatFlorida Insurance<\/a>, Florida\u2019s top independent<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatflorida.com\/florida-homeowners-insurance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> homeowners insurance<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatflorida.com\/florida-auto-insurance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">car insurance<\/a> agency.<\/p>\n<p>Along with a high traffic volume, drinking and driving adds to dangerous road conditions.
