Drivers expect traffic during specific times of the day or
\nnight. We anticipate a high volume of cars traveling to and from work during

So, what is the cause of the baffling congestion? Bad driving
\nhabits are the culprits behind unexplained traffic jams. Yes drivers, we are to
\nblame.<\/p>\n

Fox13 News<\/a>, spoke with Officer Roy Paz with the Tampa Police Department<\/a> and he explains the top reasons for phantom traffic jams in Florida.<\/p>\n

  1. Slow left-lane drivers. Don\u2019t stay in the left
    \nlane if other drivers are passing you. Officer Paz explains, \u201cThe law says that
    \na driver may not drive in the left lane if they know, or reasonably should know,
    \nthat they are being overtaken by another vehicle traveling at a higher speed.\u201d Slow
    \nleft-lane driving is against the law in Florida as well as in most of the U.S.<\/li>\n
  2. Tapping your brakes repeatedly. When drivers hit
    \ntheir brakes for no apparent reason, it causes the vehicles behind them to also
    \nhit their brakes, causing a chain reaction and slowing down traffic.<\/li>\n
  3. Unnecessary lane changing. Drivers in a hurry
    \nfrequently change lanes thinking it will get them to their destination faster. But
    \nactually, it doesn\u2019t and only causes other drivers to slow down.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
