During that time topics such as Amendment 4, abortion, guns, mental health and more will be debated. These are some of the bills we will be watching.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Toll<br \/>\nRoads<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last legislative session, lawmakers approved plans to build<br \/>\nthree new roads. This year lawmakers will look at funding. The roads would<br \/>\nextend the Suncoast Parkway in Tampa Bay to the Georgia state line, connect the<br \/>\nSuncoast with the Turnpike near its junction with I-75 and link Polk County<br \/>\nwith Collier County. Environmentalist oppose the project arguing, construction<br \/>\nis in largely rural areas where species are threatened.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Car<br \/>\nInsurance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cLawmakers will once again attempt to repeal Florida\u2019s no-fault (PIP) <a aria-label=\"auto insurance  (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.greatflorida.com\/florida-auto-insurance\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">auto insurance <\/a>system,\u201d says <a _blank=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/dustyns\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dustyn Shroff<\/a>, Vice President of <a aria-label=\"GreatFlorida Insurance (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.greatflorida.com\/florida-auto-insurance\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GreatFlorida Insurance<\/a>, Florida\u2019s largest independent <a aria-label=\"auto insurance (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.greatflorida.com\/florida-auto-insurance\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">auto insurance<\/a> agency.<\/p>\n<p>A bill is being brought up in the House and Senate. DeSantis wants the state legislature to require Florida employers to run new hires through the federal program called <a aria-label=\"E-Verify (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.e-verify.gov\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">E-Verify<\/a>. E-Verify would check their immigration status to see whether a prospective employee is eligible to work in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Environment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gov. DeSantis is proposing $4 billion to tackle several environmental<br \/>\nissues across Florida. This money would go toward the Everglades, as well as<br \/>\ndealing with algae blooms. Another $150 million would be utilized for<br \/>\nwastewater improvements including septic conversions and upgrades as well as stormwater<br \/>\nsystem upgrades. Money is also being proposed for beach nourishment funding and<br \/>\nto protect the status of coral reefs.<\/p>\n<p>Lawmakers are supporting bills to increase renewable energy usage in state agencies, adopting standards for stormwater management systems for development projects, making changes to recycling rules as well as a bill to restrict certain types of sunscreen chemicals that are harmful to reefs.
