The additional standard deduction for older taxpayers and those who are blind is still available.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" aria-label=\"IRS (opens in a new tab)\">IRS<\/a> has raised the employee contribution limit for 401k, 403b and most 457 plans to $19,500. This lowers your taxable income.<\/li>\n<li>Some families will be eligible for a deduction of $2,000 to $4,000 for college tuition.<\/li>\n<li>Victims of hurricanes, major floods or wildfire, those acknowledged as a \u201cpresidentially declared disaster area,\u201d may benefit from tax breaks.<\/li>\n<li>If your medical expenses were more than 7.5 percent of your adjusted gross income, you can deduct those expenses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThere are some long-time deductions that will not be included on 2019 tax forms,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/dustyns\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" =_blank>Dustyn Shroff<\/a>, Vice President of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatflorida.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"GreatFlorida Insurance (opens in a new tab)\">GreatFlorida Insurance<\/a>, Florida\u2019s largest independent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatflorida.com\/florida-homeowners-insurance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"homeowners insurance (opens in a new tab)\">homeowners insurance<\/a> company.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For recently divorced Americans, alimony payments are no longer tax deductible&nbsp;by the payer.
