Also, social distancing is required for fishing according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/myfwc.com\/recreation\/notices\/covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, FWC<\/a>. Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/prevent-getting-sick\/social-distancing.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">CDC<\/a>-guidelines for social distancing and personal safety. A group size cannot exceed 10 people, even outside.<\/p>\n<p>Verify that the location you are headed is open. Most beaches are open however, some remain closed and others are open but have restrictions. Those heading to a fish management area, <a href=\"https:\/\/myfwc.com\/recreation\/notices\/covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">FMA<\/a>, can check the following link for the area\u2019s open\/close status. To check the status of a boat ramp, use the FWC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/atoll.floridamarine.org\/dle_gis\/javascript\/boat_ramp_status\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Florida Public Boat Ramp Finder<\/a>. It is updated every 24-hours. If the boat ramp is not run by the FWC, call the managing entity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is biting?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bass fishing is keeping anglers busy around central Florida.<\/li>\n<li>Freshwater- Tarpon, Snook, Trout<\/li>\n<li>Saltwater- King mackerel and yellowtail<\/li>\n<li>Red snapper season begins in June, June 11 for private recreation vessels and June 1 for federally permitted for-hire operators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Starting July 1, 2020, if you are fishing for popular reef fish, such as red snapper on a private recreational vessel anywhere in Florida, you are required to get the State Reef Fish Angler designation.
